The end is near: Microsoft ends extended support for Windows Server 2003 on July 14, 2015. Yet a recent survey found that 61 percent of businesses still run at least one instance of Microsoft Server 2003! There’s turbulence in the forecast for these businesses because, properly executed, a complete server migration can take six months or longer.
But that's no cause for panic. There are a hundred good reasons for migrating off the aging operating system, but MSPs that feed the hysteria stand to lose—not win—business. Getting businesses to migrate the last of their Server 2003 systems will take a special blend of tact, patience, and planning.
The good news is these upgrade holdouts offer some of the best opportunities for you to grow your customer base, increase your revenues per account, and set your business apart as strategic business partners.
